The Medieval Pageant and Trail 2019
Canterbury’s fourth annual Medieval Pageant and Trail will take place on Saturday 6th July and is bound to be a highlight of this Summer’s event calendar!
Commemorating Henry ll’s pilgrimage to Canterbury and astonishing public apology in 1174 this colourful parade features historical characters, local schools and community and re-enactment groups, giants, music and medieval mayhem for all ages (even middle-ages!).
The Medieval Pageant and Trail will start with a performance in the Westgate Gardens. After that, the whole encampment will embarque on a parade through the city centre. Once back at the Gardens, there will be a second performance act, and you will be able to explore the different activities the encampment offers. Excitingly, you will also be able to set out exploring in the city centre on the Family Trail, which will lead you through sixteen different historical venues, each with a piece of history to observe or a medieval themed activity!
If you complete the whole trail and have your trail leaflet stamped at each venue, you will be able to head to the Canterbury Cathedral Shop to collect your prize: a chocolate coin!
