Canterbury City Council’s Lifeline service can offer peace of mind 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Your Lifeline alarm will automatically call our monitoring centre at the touch of a button. Our trained operator will quickly respond to your call, providing anything from a reassuring ear to obtaining help from your family or the emergency services.

Various types of Lifeline units are available and all work with your existing phone connection. Lifeline provides the security of never being alone during an emergency. At a time when caring within the home is a priority for many people, a Lifeline alarm provides a reassuring link to the outside world.

The service, including Operator assistance and rental of the equipment, breaks down to approximately £2.83 a week excluding VAT). There are no installation costs.

Users of the service need to have either:

  • two emergency keyholders, or
  • one emergency key holder and a fitted keysafe. Lifeline can arrange installation of a key safe, there is a charge for this service, alternatively you can arrange this independently.

How does it work?

Step one

To raise an alarm call, press the red button on the pendant.

Step two
Speak directly to a Lifeline operator using the powerful microphone and speaker in the base unit. You do not need to be near your phone.

Step three
The Lifeline operator will take the appropriate action to respond effectively to your alarm call.
