The League of Friends of the Kent & Canterbury Hospital

The League of Friends of the Kent & Canterbury Hospital (the League) is a voluntary organisation and registered charity, established in 1953, which supports the work of the hospital by providing much needed extra equipment and comforts for the benefit of patients, staff and visitors. The League uses the proceeds from its hospital services and fundraising events to purchase a wide variety of gifts for the hospital and over £8m has been spent on gifts since the charity began. Gifts range from small essentials and luxuries that improve the comfort of patients and staff (such as televisions, emergency toiletry packs, waiting room chairs and overbed tables) to larger and more expensive pieces of medical equipment (including Huntleigh beds, patient lifting aids and hoists, state of the art mobile X-ray machine and bladder scanners, to name but a few). Volunteers run a wide variety of fundraising events, including the annual fair, concerts, quiz nights and coffee mornings, and importantly the four successful hospital shops, ward trolley and library trolley services and Hospital Radio. Volunteers and fundraisers are always required so if you can spare a couple of hours each week or you are interested in supporting an event, please call the League office on 01227 864030 for more information.
